1 Month Update

Jaliyah turned 1 month old on May 6th, 2010! Time really flies by, it's amazing. It's May 15th today and I am finally getting around to do her 1 month photos, we are doing them at 5pm. I'll be sure to post those as soon as I get them back, I know they are going to be so cute. I did some research and found professional baby photos to get ideas of poses. Wohoo! exciting!

She still has Thrush, it's getting frustrating because I don't think the medicine is working. She has been on the medicine for over 2 weeks now. The only thing that seems to be helping is rinsing her mouth with water after she drinks a bottle, so that the milk doesn't sit in her mouth. Then once or twice a day I get a hot towel and gently wipe off her lips, tongue, and inside of her mouth. It's VERY slowly going away.

First shots will be on the 22nd, I am so nervous, I will probably cry more then her. I believe there's 4 immunizations to be given. I am still making up my mind but that makes me uncomfortable, I might ask my DR to do 1 shot at a time. What if she has an allergic reaction to a shot, and because there was a billion given at once, we don't know which it was? That scares me.

I originally was taking the semester off to get used to being a mommy, but I signed up for one class. I don't want to get too far behind on my degree. I am taking Advanced Composition - holy crap - I'm regretting it lol There is an essay due every week and so far I haven't been able to get them done until the very last day about 10 minutes before it is due (its an online class) lol I hope I can make it through!

Well, this update was all over the place. Take care! Here's a cuuuute picture to leave you with (I was singing to her..)

Elisha's Essentials

I am going to start posting posts of things I have found to be essential in day to day mommy life. I am a first time mom and discovering these must-haves is something I'd love to share with everyone. This will be my second post (the first was the Always Clean Pacifier).

The Munchkin Bag Dispenser clips onto your diaper bag and is easy to reach for. I have found when I go to other peoples houses, I don't want to throw a smelly diaper in their garbage for them to smell. The bags that come in the dispenser are deodorized to mask the smell of those wonderful surprises then I feel more comfortable throwing the diaper away or just popping it back in my diaper bag to throw away at home.

I have found that the cute little dispenser has come in handy for tons of other things besides diapers. It's easy to reach for in the car if you need a garbage bag, or clothes that baby has messed up.

I got mine for $3.99 at my local store and a pack of 3 bag refills for $3.99. Great price!

Jaliyah will be one month in 5 days! Holyyyy crap! It seems like we just left the hospital.

She now weighs 9lbs 2oz - and I am still waiting on her insurance papers, this is getting irritating. Thank God this pediatrician will work with me - but I am changing pediatricians as soon as I get her paperwork in. At her appointment today we discovered she has Thrush so now she is on medicine for that. My friends daughter had that for 2 months, I am hoping and praying Jaliyah's clears up faster then that. Does anyone have experience with this?

Liyah is now drinking 3oz bottles, such a chunker girl! She can hold her head up a little bit when she is on her stomach or if I am holding her against my shoulder. I think she is already starting to (try) roll over, she makes it to her side when she is on her back. It is so exciting watching the new milestones happen. She focuses so well on me (or whoever is talking to her) it's like she is really listening lol so cute

I started printing all the pictures of her from the month for her scrapbook that I am making. I am having my brother take her 1 month pictures next Saturday, I can't wait to post those - She is going to be so cute - Keep lookin for those :)
